Dramatic Soprano

The Finnish soprano Laura Juvonen studied with opera singer Ritva-Liisa Korhonen at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, where she graduated in 2020.

Her first dramatic operatic role was Leonora in King Charles’ Hunt by Finnish composer Fredrik Pacius in 2019. She later sang the title role of Puccini’s Turandot as a cover at the Alexander Theatre in Helsinki (Opera BOX Production) in 2020, and performed the role on stage in 2023. Her professional experience also includes performing Lady Macbeth in the immersive opera production Lady M, based on Verdi’s Macbeth, at Music Theatre Kapsäkki in Helsinki in 2024. Her operatic repertoire further includes Aida (Verdi), Iolanta (Tchaikovsky), Silvia (Mascagni), Tosca (Puccini), Lady Macbeth (Verdi), and Elsa, Elisabeth & Ortlinde (Wagner).

During the last season, Juvonen appeared as Saana in the world premiere of the contemporary opera Imatran impi by Finnish composer Uljas Pulkkis. The upcoming season includes the role of Silvia in Mascagni’s opera Zanetto.

In 2019, she appeared as a finalist in the Kangasniemi and Lappeenranta Singing Competitions in Finland. In 2020, she was named the Paavo and Päivi Lipponen Fund’s Soloist of the Year, and in 2023 she was awarded a Bayreuth Scholarship by the Finnish Wagner Society.
